Here's Why Christian Praise Bands Are Offensive to God

Last year I attended The Journey Church in San Francisco, one of three churches I visited after my bike accident.  One of the troubling aspects of attending these Christian churches was that I found the extremely loud praise pop band performances uncomfortable and annoying. The bands were often in performance mode along with a rock band drummer with plexiglas protectors. Likewise, whenever I watch televised ministry videos I also cringe at how bad the musicians and performances are.

I did some quick research and came up with a sound Biblical basis for why I don't enjoy singing along with these band performances even though I have a natural tendency to want to sing. These over powering all consuming Christian bands and musicians aren't at all supposed to be playing in the Church services according to New Testament Scripture:

Musicians tend to love their instruments more then God that they try to make Christianity conform to their desires to play them in the church.

"First Corinthians 14 explains that verbal worship edifies worshipers in the assembly. In 1 Corinthians 14:15, Christ’s Spirit uses the Greek word psallo to describe how making melody with the spirit and the mind relies on words. Meaningful music in worship relies upon understandable words (1 Cor 14:7–19). Instead of musicians playing in bands at these services, they really need to be sitting in their seats listening to the Word of God.  I personally don't want to hear them play their instruments whatsoever. As a group, musicians aren't recognized for their moral compasses throughout history. Instead, they've consistently struggled with idolatry of their instruments and of music itself while glorifying themselves for their talents.

Being a musician puts one on a stage at the center of an audience's attention and this often causes them to believe they're unique when the only real thing special about them is their over inflated egos! If I had it God's way there would be not one musician playing in any Christian church in the U.S. Their instruments should all be silenced as they take their place in the church seats instead along with the rest of Christian folks.  According to His Word, God is clear no musicians are supposed to be playing in His church likely due to the corrupting nature of Satan over music in the world.

"Christ’s music is vocal and verbal for the church, and the singing is the most beautiful, pure, and sublime form of music. Many do not know that the Christian Scriptures describe musical instruments as “lifeless” or literally “soulless” in Greek (1 Cor 14:7). Soulless instruments are very much in contrast to singing and the indwelling of the Spirit. Ephesians 5:18–19 exhorts, “be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.” The Scriptures depict meaningful and spiritual worship where Christians gather together singing to God and to one another without relying on a select group to enhance worship. I will be finding a Bible study group I can also sing spiritual songs with.  Enough of the grandstanding and trespassing of these musicians in God's church. This includes all instruments except the human voice.

"How one approaches God in worship is of fundamental importance. Individually and congregationally, worship is either accepted or refused by God. We must not assume that God automatically accepts anything we offer. He doesn’t. God has always rejected worship He did not like (Isaiah 1:13). He does not like vain worship (Matthew 15:9), which (in the context) ritualistically continues human traditions; ignorant worship (Acts 17:20–23), which results from not seeking God’s Word on the subject; and will-worship (Colossians 2:23), which offers what we want instead of what He wills." - House to House, Heart to Heart

Whenever I witness these bands performing, I inwardly know God finds them worthless as a means to praise Him with.
